ROUGH AROUND THE EDGES

Happiness is essentially a state of going somewhere wholeheartedly, one-directionally, without regret or reservation.
W.H. Sheldon

I have finished work now but seem to have just as little time as ever.

The days have rolled by - mostly sunny.

P:-)'s daughter had a baby girl which makes 4 granddaughters for P:-). Of course she is very cute - just 7 pounds - such a tiny little face.

I knitted her this teddy bear.

He is made from knitted squares which are then sewn together and shaped. He is the first one I have made using this method.

He's a little rough around the edges but he has a nice face.

Of course Spring means flowers. I don't have a lot of flowering plants but was delighted to see these gazanias pop up on my footpath.

Gazanias are no good as cut flowers and they close up at night but they add a splash of colour out the front of my house.

I am currently reading You Can Buy Happiness by Tammy Strobel. Tammy writes a blog called Rowdy Kittens.

Tammy downsized to a Tiny House. There is an underlying philosophy in the book  that a simpler life is a happier one. Her book is very interesting and very appropriate for me as I am downsizing.

I will leave you with this quote from Tammy's book.

"In short materialism distracts us from two main facets in life that actually make us happy - strong relationships and doing work you love. The good news is that more and more people are foregoing materialism and choosing to live a simpler life."

  1. How exciting having a new baby in the family!

The bear looks pretty good to me. I've become a bit obsessed with amigurimi (think that's the spelling), which are adorable crocheted toys. I wish I could crochet. Actually, I did learn how (and knitting) when I was a girl, but I forget and don't have the patience to re-learn!

Thanks for the tip of the book/blog. Right up my alley! I'll check them out.

  2. Guess what I saw on the way home, walking through the Botanic Gardens? Gazanias! (I didn't know that's what they were called until I read your blog)
