DAY TWO AT SANCTUARY POINT

Great acts are made up of small deeds.
Lao Tzu

Merry Christmas

Today P:-) and I decided to investigate the Booderee National Park, on the shore of Jervis Bay. First we went to Green Patch and walked down to the beach which had very white sand.

Then we drove a little further around the bay to Murray's beach

We continued on our way to the Boodoree Botanic Gardens. These are gardens of native plants. It was a little disappointing in that there weren't many flowers as we had missed the main blooms of spring.

Meanwhile back at the caravan park
The hibiscus below is of course not a native, but was taken at the caravan park. It was so pretty it seemed worth inclusion.

There were lots of noisy birds in the trees - rosellas and lorikeets, but they rarely flew close enough to photograph. Below is a lone magpie which was quite brave amd kept coming back to our camp.

DAY ONE AT SANCTUARY POINT

Negative expectations are a quick route to dead-end thinking.
John C. Maxwell

I had a young friend who had had a very difficult life growing up.  He told me that the best way to approach life was to always expect the worst and then he wouldn't be disappointed. Considering his childhood and teenage years I can understand his thinking, but it  seemed impossible to change his outlook. By the time he was 30 my friend had 2 children he didn't see any more; a failed marriage and a number of failed relationships; and a failed suicide attempt. Circumstances have meant that we have lost touch, but I often think about him and wonder if he has been able to overcome his negative expectations of life, and if so, has he achieved a happier and more fulfilling existence.

Merry Christmas

P:-) and I spent the last 3 days at Sanctuary Point on St Georges basin. We took our caravan and had a great site under a couple of very big eucalyptus  trees. There was no one else camping near us.. It was a very small and friendly caravan park which suited us better than the larger resort style parks we often stay in.

We lived in the lap of luxury with a TV........

and a mozzie zapper.

On the first day we went on a walk around the headland. First there was beach strewn with sea-grass which had washed up on the sand.......

Then the path headed up  across the headland...........

where we spotted some native flannel flowers.

Native Flannel flowers

Flannel flowers like to grow in scrubby heathland. We continued along our path and headed back down  to the water where we came across some men with remote controlled yachts, competing against each other as they maneuvered their yachts around miniature buoys.

On the walk back along the road we found a coffee shop which made lovely coffee.
