HAMILTON ISLAND WEDDING

If you want happiness, your main aim in life should not be about becoming the richest person in the world or the most popular one. Instead, you should live your life to the fullest and grasp all of the positive things that come along. Stop chasing the material things and just enjoy what you have today.

I never saw myself as someone who chased material things as mentioned in the quote above - and even less so in the past 10 years.  By necessity my life is simple, but I try to live my 'life to the fullest and grasp all the things that come along' as mentioned in the quote above.

This is why perhaps this blog verges on the trivial, but I have tried, and in fact learned, to find satisfaction in many small things.

I write my blog primarily for me. It makes me look at the positive things in life, even if in fact they are small.

I like to share my life and thoughts with my friends, and write a lot with my friends in Canada in mind.

I had planned to write a post for my blog every Saturday but life got in the way of writing a post the last few weeks - some things good, somethings not so good.

The most exciting thing these past few weeks was a quick trip to Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays for Peter's daughter's wedding. We flew up Tuesday and home Thursday for the wedding on Wednesday.  Apparently about 500 weddings are carried out each year on Hamilton Island (Wikipedia).

We stayed in the Whitsunday Apartments overlooking Catseye Beach. Below are some photos of the view from our apartment.

Our unit was on floor 7 of the building to the left of the tree in the picture below.

The photos I have chosen to post of the wedding may seem rather strange but I don't like to put recognisable photos of people's faces in my blog so as to maintain their privacy, so I have chosen photos which fulfil this condition.

Beth's and Matt's wedding was in a little white church on the side of a hill.

This is the view west from our balcony and the church can be seen half way down the hill opposite.

The flower girl looked especially cute.

The three nieces wore matching dresses and here they are jumping off a rock.

The bridesmaids wore coral.

The reception was held at the yacht Club. It was in a beautiful setting at the Marina.

The windows inside looked over the water.

It was a beautiful wedding with lots of warmth and humour.

This stick insect below spent a couple of days on my garage wall. I think it is the biggest one I have ever seen.

Mum grows poinsettias and she gave us a whole lot to take to Peter's place. Peter doesn't have vases so we used a black bucket I had just bought at Coles for $1. They looked great.

It is a shame they won't last until Christmas.

Peter has not been well for a few weeks and I had a couple of weeks of illness, so we have not been bike riding for a while. It was lovely to get on our bikes again one evening last week and go for a short ride by Lake Illawarra.

  1. The wedding dresses look lovely and the setting is magnificent. Poinsettias are foiled nicely by the back 'vase'. So glad you are both feeling well enough to ride again. Sunnier days ahead!
